Agenda for Nov 7, 2025 CACI Seminar 12 pm to 2 pm

12-12:15 pm: Check in on how everyone’s semester is going and announcements

• Check in on semester progress with Fellows and discussion of any pedagogical challenges that they are facing in the classroom.
• Announcements from CACI to Fellows: Reminder of upcoming teaching observation opportunities and to fill out the observation guide provided; the opening of the Spring 2026 Fellowship applications; and plans for the last session on Dec 12 at 10 am to 12 pm.

12:15-12:30 pm: Debrief observations and sharing of Ryan Hitch (Teaching Fellow) observation

• Fellows who attended the observation shared their thoughts on how China Studies material was presented during the session, and provided suggestions.

12:30-1:30 pm: Review video recording of Bret Windhauser’s (Teaching Fellow) class which focused on piracy in Chinese history

• Fellows discussed the session as we replayed the video.

1:30-2 pm: Resource Sharing and Discussion: Teaching China through NYC Connections

• Fellows discussed how to connect China Studies to resources locally in NYC.
